I’m frustrated

The Chrome extension crashes a lot & loses scripts

Hi,

I've been trying out the Chrome extension to record some scripts during exploratory testing. It crashes half of the time, and quits itself afterwards erasing all the previous recorded lines.

Question:
1. Why does it crash so often?
2. Is there a way to record and save so that I don't lose the valuable scripts I recorded? And don't waste my time on repeating and risking not finishing testing on time?

Thanks!

  • Hi Stephanie,

I'm sorry to hear you're running into problems with the Tellurium extension crashing.

    To answer your two questions:

    1. The short answer is that it's a problem of too much Javascript between your website and the Tellurium extension. We will be promoting a fix in the next few days that will decrease the amount of Javascript the extension runs, and that fix should help to decrease the likelihood of extension crashes.

    2. If you're working on creating a test using the extension, you can follow these steps to save that test to your "Tests" table in the Tellurium application. Once your test is saved, you'll be able to view and modify in the app on the "Tests" page along with all of your other tests.

    I hope this helps!

    Best,
    Cullyn

  • Hi again, Stephanie,

I wanted to let you know that we just released an updated version of the Tellurium extension that includes a fix for the issue you noticed. The newest version is 1.4 and should update for you automatically within a few hours.

If you'd like to update your Tellurium extension manually, follow these steps:
    1. Open Chrome
    2. Go to chrome://extensions/
    3. Check the "Developer mode" checkbox
    4. Click the "Update extensions now" button that appears

    Best,
    Cullyn

  • I have the same problem with you.
The Chrome often crashes and I get redirected to s.coldsearch.com.
I went to the Chrome help forum and found a topic saying that the problem might be caused some extensions. I tried to disable all add-ons but it doesn't work. Have you fix the issue? I think I need your help.

  • Hi Mary,

Sorry about chrome crashing, but the redirect to s.coldsearch.com wouldn't be from the Tellurium extension.

If you'd like to disable the Tellurium Chrome extension (or any Chrome extension for that matter), simply follow these steps:
    1. Click the "three horizontal lines" icon in the top right corner of your browser to open the browser options menu.
    2. Choose the "Settings" option to open a page where you can modify your browser settings.
    3. On the left side of the page click on "Extensions".
From there you can choose to enable, disable, or even delete any extensions that you have associated with your chrome account.

Once again, sorry about chrome crashing.

  • I'm using V1.4 as well and it still crashes. I just posted the same question then found these older posts.
